During our leisure time, we like to venture out into our backyard and relax in Temecula Valley, an array of wineries and vineyards within Southern California. This would be the third time we’ve been to Miramonte’s Winery. As we’ve mentioned before, they were our first in wine tasting and since our experience in their outside lounge, they have been gaining foot traffic. The experience we had today was much more social, to the point where we had a hard time finding seats in the backyard lounge. If it wasn’t for the enjoyable wine, driving out to Temecula would have been a disappointing day, fighting the hustle and bustle in their backyard.

Now for those of you who are not familiar with Temecula Valley, it is the home of an array of vineyards and wineries in Southern California. This would be the second time we’ve experienced Miramonte’s Winery as a wine club member, since our tasting in November. Great experience with a couple of our good friends. We got to see the barrels the wines were contained in, generous tastings of one of their finest, complimented with cheeses and crackers.

They were one of our first wine tastings in Temecula Valley, hard to say it’s one of our favorites thus far, but their outdoor lounge is what we both love to experience every time we’re in the area. We remembered to capture a couple photos attached. Since our tasting with Miramonte, it seems that they have been gaining a lot of foot traffic through their winery. May be due to the Groupon deal that was released through the months.

On a typical day, our experience with the winery is very relaxed and tranquil. We would talk for hours amongst others who spoke at a low conversational volume between each others. This time around, I must say the experience wasn’t as enjoyable as others with their foot traffic. First, there wasn’t enough parking for their customers. Second, their spacious lounge and lawn area was jam packed with wine lovers. Chairs were everywhere, wine connoisseurs appeared like their were hustle and bustling with requests. However, we did meet a little friend at the cabanas. If you scroll through the photos, you’ll see that our little friend was enjoying some sunshine.

This time around, I remembered to take a couple photos of our experience. We’re hoping to make photo shooting a habit for our readers, to share a little more about the wines and the places I write about on the blog. Let us know and we can make it happen! Here are the wines we tasted today:

Miramonte 2014 Rosé

Notes: Beautiful, pink 2014 rosé from Miramonte. Shades darker than the typical rosé, quite beautiful if you look at the photo or links attached. Sweet green apple and cherry nose, smells smooth and easy to drink based on how light and friendly the 2014 rosé smells. Swirl a sip around your mouth a couple times and you get a flat, juicy rosé that easily goes down from the crisp characteristics of the wine. Very drinkable wine, it has a nice velvety feel as it sits and easily goes down. Green apple finish with a hint of pear. This is a beautiful rosé, I would pick up a couple bottles for the ladies to enjoy during the summer.

Miramonte 2011 Touriga Nacional

Notes: On the darker sides of cabs, the 2011 Touriga Nacional leaves a powerful first impression, full of complexity and boldness. Just from swirling the red in the glass, you get a strong whiff of a dark and complex nose. Opens to a sweet cherry and boysenberry notes, along with touches of tobacco. Smooth and subtle against the pallet with a touch of tart. Hints of oak and herbs. Notes of cocoa and dark berries at the finish. A well balanced, complex finish that will leave you feeling as strongly as the wine provides you.

From our experience, the 2011 Touring Nacional is a dark cab, to be sipped and slowly enjoyed based on it’s powerful characteristics. If you’re looking for a wine with tobacco, cocoa and clean tannin notes, this is the wine for you.

Miramonte 2011 Estate Syrah

Notes: This magnificent glass by Miramonte was filled with 100% Syrah straight from their vineyard! For all the Syrah lovers out there, the 2011 Estate Syrah from Miramonte had notes of black cherries and chocolate notes. The red had a subtle sweetness to it, along with some peppers and spices. Dark fruit characteristics, long and lingering finish that felt almost satiny. This Syrah was very well-balanced, implemented with spices that had you constantly sipping every few seconds. The Syrah is one of our favorite Cabs, the 2011 Estate Syrah was one we pleasantly enjoyed in the books.
